Nancy Pelosi landed in Taiwan a few hours ago, as Speaker of Congress the highest US official to visit the island since the late 1990s. That despite the Chinese government warning days ago it will see it as provocation, for they regard Taiwan as Chinese land, and who's this American woman landing with her entourage of jets – five of it! — on their property. So they are pretty pissed at this moment.

To retaliate against the American bravado, China sent two of its aircraft carriers to Taiwan, one to the south, one to the north. Maybe just intimidation tactics, maybe a prelude to invasion soon. 

21 of Mainland China's fighter jets yet again broke the outer perimeter of Taiwan's air defense space, but they have done it so many times the past number of years the rice-eaters below don't even flip them off anymore.  

There are rumors China may fire a rocket today all over the island to show who's the big dick around, while Pelosi is still in Taipei sipping tea with the nervous Taiwanese government. The latter is in quite a jam. They could not refuse Pelosi visiting them, with the US the only guarantee so far that China won't invade it. Especially in the light of Russia invading Ukraine, America is sending a clear signal to China not to play copycat by invading Taiwan. On the other hand, China can and will take more subtle steps now to cause Taiwan harm in the long run. 

The Zombie Shop That Got No Virgins

   This is a true story, and you know it's true because you're reading it here. 😂 Christian logic, huh.

The following really happened with me this morning.

  A while ago the old man that owned a little convenience store close nearby me died of genealogical bat bite complications. (Just me trying to find a new term for Coronavirus complications. A bat bit a Chinese, or the Chinese guy bit an infected bat, and the disease passed on from one to another.)

   Anyway, the shop stood closed for some weeks. Then a man, I assume a Pakistani, and Muslim by faith I found out today, bought it from the bereaved family.

  The building got a new paint job, new shelves, improved modern lighting, was properly stocked, new tile floors, the works. The shop looked smart and modern when it opened up again two weeks ago, with much longer business hours as well, while the whole upmarket neighborhood is still asleep. The shop used to be a bit run down before then, with the white owner having had it for decades. Much lower prices now too.

But no customers came.
