Comparison: America vs South Africa Covid-19 Deaths and Inoculation Rates

Was talking to a friend in South Africa two hours ago about how that country stack up to some other countries when it comes to the number of inoculations against the Coronavirus, and number of deaths. We did some googling, and came across a surprising almost the same number of deaths today in both America and South Africa, while America has a six times bigger population. He created the meme on top and said I can use it in a blog post, and in turn I gave him permission to post my article here on his timeline on Facebook. 

I'm not sure my intended target audience will be able to do the math. 😉 But if this doesn't open your eyes, nothing will. America has around 360 million people, while South Africa has 6 times less at 60 million.

The article on top left on the meme (URL's were kept on each article as reference, just head over to the URL and type in the article title) shows that a 100 000 Americans were hospitalized. This means there are far more cases of people sick at home, probably around a million or five. Yet, 'only' 364 deaths.

Meanwhile, on the same day, South Africa had a total of just over twelve thousand newly diagnosed cases (including people self-isolating at home; we did not particularly search for the hospitalization number), yet almost the same number of deaths as America.

This clearly illustrates that vaccines do lower one's chance of dying, and to get less sick than without it.

To date, with 5.5 billion jabs worldwide being done, no long-terms side effects were found yet from the vaccines. A large study amongst 29 million (yes! 29 million) Britons published in the esteemed British Medical Journal this week found that the risk of blood clots from the jabs are 'magnitudes' lower (I can't remember the exact number, but it's huge) than the occurrence of blood clots in unvaccinated patients from the virus.

Basically, the numbers prove beyond a doubt that you are far better off taking the vaccine, than risk going without it. Keep in mind that every scientist — being human in nature — is aspiring towards a Nobel Prize, and as such keeps an eye on research going on. Do you think an Iranian or Chinese scientist will pass up the chance to prove that American scientists are wrong? And yet they also underwrite the vaccines, in fact, 99.9% of accredited scientists the world over vouch for the particular vaccines, and have themselves and their children jabbed. I know some Ford mechanics that won't be seen dead owning a Ford themselves…
