The peaceful passing of the world's most famous mouse a few hours ago came as a shock to all of his followers the world over. Tupelo, or Tupe as he was later known, inspired his owner Carole Boyle to write a cookbook that is available on Amazon. Her efforts into creating awareness of how misunderstood rodents are certainly swung many people once against rodents into the right direction.
During the writing of the book the author tested out every recipe herself, and Tupelo had to approve it. His big black spoon he sat on and that Carole then held close to the food became a familiar sight to rodent lovers the world over. She was responsible for translating his Mousespeak into English.
A few months ago Tupelo even got an 'annoying friend', called That Guy, a doll/toy/thing that was ever present on photos then.
Unfortunately mice and rodents don't live very long, with two to three years being the average expectation, and often shorter. During the past quarter it was evident that his age caught up with Tupe, as can be seen on this photo.
Tupelo led a spoiled life, had a fun-filled day every day, and ingrained himself into the hearts of countless people. It is true that pet mice and rats are emotional support animals to many of their owners, and even those who only got to 'meet' Tupelo and his little adventures on photos experience a feeling of loss today.
Food connoisseur Tupelo was a curious inspector of food, and when one ear was pulled back one got the impression that the dish beneath him failed the superior sniff test rodents are known for.
Although he will never be forgotten, the group and page Marty Mouse House Minions where many mouse and rat admirers hang out needed a new official mouse, so at his retirement Tupelo handed over the job to Weggie. The latter will now take Tupe's seat on the spoon. As to be expected, That Guy feels sad too about losing a very intelligent, very adorable little boss. It's a big spoon new boss Weggie will have to fill.
