Lieutenant-colonel Denys Prokopenko of the Azov regiment, trapped below the Azovstal Steelworks in Mariupol, here seen when he still shaved. |
Certain intelligence reports has it that Russia started on 02 May 2022 with "an internal mobilization program." Which means that the chances of Putin declaring martial law in Russia on 09 May is now almost a given.
Basically, Putin will be changing the Kremlin's tune from 'special military operation' in Ukraine, to officially declaring a full-fledged war against either just Ukraine, or against the NATO bloc. The latter will amount to a declaration of starting World War 3. Such a declaration will draw in other European countries militarily, whether they want to or not. It will mean a major ramp up of the war's temperature.
Do Russians really believe they can win against the much more powerful NATO? Actually, yes. Propaganda the last few months convinced them that MAD is a delusional scam, that 'Mutually Assured Destruction' is just an excuse from the fearful weak pussies in the decadent West.
So, on Wednesday 04 May 2022, Russia started doing nuclear drills in Kaliningrad, the enclave between Poland and Lithuania. That included simulated nuclear-capable missile strikes. 'Hay, Dimitri Papuskalov, you hit that red button for London, I'll take Paris, and you Boris Kontrovich take Berlin. But just don't hit the red buttons for real now, okay?'
The Russians are gearing up to have nuclear bombs rain down on Europe. The biggest nuke in the Russian arsenal can take out all of Britain, the whole island, at once. No surprise, since it's one thousand times more powerful than the one that blew up Hiroshima in 1945.
Apart from that one, Russia has another 6 200 in store, and one can be certain every Russian submarine at this minute has a nuke or five aimed at world cities like New York, Washington, Los Angeles, and at the other 'unfriendly' nuclear powers of the world. Which is just the USA, Britain and France. Paralyze those three, and the world is Putin's oyster.
Martial law in Russia will allow Putin to call up tens of millions of Russian men as soldiers to go to the front, and to commandeer their vehicles and more for the war effort. Naturally such a move is never popular amongst a population that prefer to rather cheer on their soldiers only, hence the importance for Putin of winning at least Mariupol in full.
If the far-right-wing Ukrainian lieutenant-colonel Denys Prokopenko and his troops in charge of the Azovstal steel plant can hold out another 5 days, it will be a blow to Putin.
But should the Ukrainian regiment surrender before then, a victory parade is planned by the Russians through the streets of Mariupol on the day Russia celebrates its victory over Germany in 1945. For Russian morale it will be a huge boost, for Ukraine not. And it will give Putin the guts to make Russia's suicide speech. With 71% of ordinary Russians supporting Putin's war, they may get to put their rubles where their rushism is.
The bomb shelters below the gigantic steel plant were built in 1933, so now we'll see if things were really built better back then than today. The fate of the world may depend on that bearded beetroot soup slurping hillbilly Ukrainian commander and his thousand or so comrades hiding down there below, to keep Putin's genocidal libido in check.
